ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, MARYLAND (June 18, 2015) -- The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) bid farewell to its senior civilian leader during a dinner at Top of the Bay here, June 18.

Deputy to the Commanding General (DCG) Gary P. Martin was celebrated and recognized for his three years of dedication to the command by both AMC and CECOM leaders, key staff members and his family. During his tenure, Martin worked with the commander in the development and execution of organizational goals, objectives and policies aimed to provide world-class, integrated Command, Control, Communications, Computers Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) solutions to the Soldier.

During the dinner, Martin received an impromptu phone call from Gen. Dennis L. Via, Army Materiel Command Commanding General, which was broadcast throughout the dining room for all to enjoy. Via thanked Martin for his tenure with AMC and wished him well in his new venture as the Program Executive Officer, Command, Control and Communications-Tactical, or PEO-C3T.

CECOM Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Bruce T. Crawford, alongside many friendly faces from CECOM's leadership, presented Martin with various tokens and thoughts of appreciation throughout the evening. Crawford hand-selected the first email Martin had sent to him that offered guidance and support as he welcomed the CG to CECOM; others chose gifts tied to personal jokes or Martin's love of New England and its sports teams.

During his remarks, Martin noted that this was his third time as a CECOM employee and that "it keeps getting better every time he comes back." His speech recognized various members of the command who have supported him as the DCG. Most importantly he thanked his family for "their support throughout my time at CECOM and throughout my career." He accredited his wife Jane as the reason for his success and "the reason I am standing here today."

Martin assumes responsibility of the PEO-C3T during a ceremony at the Myer Auditorium here today.
