ASC honors colonel's 29 years of service

ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- Col. Scott Smith, U.S. Army Sustainment Command, was honored for 29 years of active duty service during a retirement ceremony, here, March 20.

Smith, a Minnesota native, joined the Army in 1986 to help pay for his final two years of college. He started his career in the air defense field, and now caps a nearly 30 year career as ASC's deputy chief of staff for Information Management.

He was joined by his wife, Jane; daughters, Alexa and Madison; grandchildren, Olivia and Jackson; and parents, Bill and Penny. Deputy to the Commander, D. Scott Welker, ASC, led the ceremony.

Smith's future plans include finding a technology job in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area, working on his golf game, and spending time with his family.
