ANSBACH, Germany (March 12, 2015) -- The Illesheim parish of the Evangelical Church of Germany welcomed U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach's Protestant Women of the Chapel as special guests for the International Day of Women's Prayer Friday.
U.S. Army Chaplain (Maj.) Eric Dean coordinated with Rev. Melanie Caesar of the Evangelical Church of Germany to form a religious partnership and strengthen the spiritual ties of Americans and Germans in the Ansbach and Storck Barracks communities.
The focal point of this year's International Day of Women's Prayer was the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Members of the Protestant Women of the Chapel and members of the Evangelical Church of Germany joined together in praying for the needs of the Bahamian women, which included protection from HIV, AIDS, teenage pregnancy, rape and domestic violence. In addition to prayer the ladies joined together in singing Bahamian worship songs and concluded the evening with Bahamian food prepared by the ladies of the Evangelical Church of Germany.
"This event, along with others, strengthens the bonds with our host nation and enhances our community partnership," Dean said.
