ANSBACH, Germany (Feb. 9, 2015) -- Members of Outreach-KONTAKT Franken, U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach's German-American friendship club, after several months of collecting delivered pet food donations to Tierheim Ansbach, the local animal shelter, recently.

German President Dennis Gardner and the International Vice President Jessica Sowders took the collected goods, which included mostly pet food and snacks for dogs and cats, and handed them over to the leadership of the shelter, Günter Pfisterer und Agnes Allmann.

Tierheim Ansbach, a non-profit organization run mostly by volunteers, gives pets that were given up or were abandoned by their owners a temporary safe place until they find a new owner. On occasion, if an animal is too old or fragile to be re-homed, they find loving care in the shelter, until they pass.
