WIESBADEN, Germany(Dec. 16, 2014) -- U.S. Army Europe commemorated the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge here, Dec. 16, 2014, with the unveiling of a static display at the Shalikashvili Mission Command Center on Clay Kaserne.

USAREUR's Chief of Staff, Brig. Gen. Markus Laubenthal, was at the event along with other USAREUR staff members.

"Keeping this type of history alive is critical," Laubenthal said. "Germany and the United States were clearly in a different place 70 years ago, but commemorating these key events in our histories will help make our relationship even stronger in the future. The Battle of the Bulge is about strong leadership; USAREUR is about building strong leaders and ultimately about building a strong Europe with our partners and allies."

The display will remain the foyer of the Shali building until May 2015 and visitors are encouraged to come by and visit the display.
