FORT KNOX, Kentucky (Nov. 21, 2014) -- U.S. Army Cadet Command has named the top 10 Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Cadets on its FY 2015 national Order of Merit List (OML).
The OML ranks all Army ROTC seniors across the nation, with the top 20 percent earning the designation of Distinguished Military Graduate. This year there were 1,124 Distinguished Military Graduates out of the 5,617 cadets on the OML.
Cadets' OML rankings are determined by a number of criteria, including grade point averages, strong athletic performance in the Army Physical Fitness Test and college athletic participation, performance during college ROTC training and at the Leader Development and Assessment Course at Fort Knox.
This year's top 10 Cadets are:
1. Jonathan Strickland, from the University of North Georgia, Dahlonega, Georgia.
2. Caitlin Lozano, from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado.
3. Blake Lemmons, from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.
4. Matthew Horne, from Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, Georgia.
5. John Sonza, from San Francisco State University, San Francisco.
6. Matthew Gooch, from Campbell University, Buies Creek, North Carolina.
7. Nathan Edgar, from Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas.
8. Jaime Martinez, from Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona.
9. Aaron Goodwin, from the University of Wyoming, Laramie, Wyoming.
10. Connor Anderson, from the University of San Diego, San Diego.
The mission of U.S. Army Cadet Command is to commission officers to meet the Army's leadership requirements through the senior ROTC program, and to operate a world-class citizenship program to instill life skills in high school students through Junior ROTC.
