LTG and Mrs. Gus Perna recently participated in Operation Home Cooking at the Washington Convention Center. Several hundred Army spouses got tips from celebrity chefs, including former Navy Chef Chris Kyler. Army spouse Debbie Allyn brought along her husband, GEN Daniel Allyn, Vice Chief of Staff of the Army. LTG Perna said the professionalism that military cooks and civilian food specialists show every day supports mission success. He thanked the spouses, reminding them what GEN Odierno always says: "The strength of our Nation is our Army; the strength of our Army is our Soldiers; the strength of our Soldiers is our Families; and that is what makes us Army Strong!"

Mrs. Susan Perna shared one of LTG Perna's favorite recipes -- Piccolo Patate. They are cheesy fried potatoes -- Italian style. LTG Perna's grandmother gave Susan the recipe when they got married, and she has been making them for special occasions ever since.
