Fort Belvoir, Va. (Sept. 4, 2014) - Shenandoah National Park (U.S. National Park Service) is located 75 miles from Washington D.C., perfect for a day-trip or even a weekend getaway. The park boasts spectacular views and serene woodlands, along with 500 miles of trails, including 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail.

There's lots of wildlife about, including black bears, wild turkey, deer, birds and countless other animals across the park. Camping sites, both reserved and first-come, first-served, are available. There are cabins to rent, souvenir shops and rustic restaurants along Skyline Drive.

Staunton, Va., located a short drive from the south entrance to Shenandoah National Park, is the birthplace of President Woodrow Wilson and is the home of the President Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum.
