FORT A.P. HILL, Va. - Five U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams from posts Army-wide are competing in the first-ever EOD Team of the Year competition here. Four of the EOD teams come from active-Army units; the fifth is from the Florida Army National Guard.

The Team of the Year competition will test each three-Soldier team's ability to perform EOD tasks in 14 separate incidents. The incidents include: responding to a report of an Improvised Explosive Device, an artillery round stuck in the barrel of a cannon, a downed aircraft scenario and more.

The competition began on Monday Aug. 11 with a physical fitness test, followed by weapons qualification on the M4 Carbine and M9 pistol. The EOD incidents run Tuesday Aug. 12 through Thursday Aug. 14.

The completion concludes on Friday Aug. 15 with an awards ceremony at 3 p.m.
