CAMP ZAMA, Japan (July 31, 2014) -- Camp Zama's Army Community Service hosted a pool party July 26 at the Sagamihara Family Housing Area Pool, here, in recognition of the Army organization's 49 years of service to military families. Several community members participated in the celebration.
The event, with support from United Service Organizations Inc. and other financial facilities from Camp Zama, provided food services, live music, raffling, and other entertainment.
Tanesha Clark, a community member, said that it's great the community can come out and have fun, play around, see their neighbors, and get a little food from USO and ACS.
"I'm here to celebrate ACS's 49th birthday and to enjoy the summer fun," said Clark.
Gary Woods, Camp Zama's ACS employee, said that he was pleased with the turnout of nearly 350 people and he also thought that the ending was well-received.
"The mission of ACS as a whole is to provide in convention and education, social services and support, and meet the needs of the community," said Woods.
However, the event would not have been possible without the help from Camp Zama's volunteers, concluded Monica Battle, Camp Zama's ACS director.
"It's our 49th and we're going to our 50th birthday next year," said Battle.
