Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) celebrates National Nurses Week, an annual weeklong celebration beginning May 6th and ending May 12th, where the hard work and dedication of all nursing professional is honored.

Brig. Gen. Dennis Doyle, Commanding General for Pacific Regional Medical Command and TAMC, kicked off the celebration with a ribbon cutting and provided some words of appreciation for all attending. "From the bottom of the collective hearts of the Tripler ohana and the Pacific Region, I want to thank you for what you do and encourage you to keep doing it. Because of the diversity and all the contributions you make to Army Medicine, we extend that (celebration) to the whole week."

This year's theme, "Nurses: Leading the Way", recognized nurses in all their leadership roles, from boardroom to bedside, private practice to Army medical centers.

2nd Lt. Nathan Cox, Staff Nurse in Medical Telemetry, is just one of the many nurses at TAMC who say they appreciate the recognition and feel fortunate to work in a role that ties directly into the Army Core Values. "Selfless Service encompasses (definitive healing) by sustaining the fighting force, their families and retirees" said Cox.

In honor of all nursing personnel, TAMC will hold numerous events such as a night shift pizza party, fun run/walk, scavenger hunts, various continuing education and case studies and ending with an ice cream social.
