TEXARKANA, Texas - "If we helped one person today, we were successful," said Sil Gomez, Workforce Management Specialist for Red River Army Depot.

Helping the growing population of Veterans and Wounded Warriors is exactly what members of RRAD set out to do during the third annual Wounded Warrior and Veterans,' Expo on March 19.

In partnership with Texarkana College and URS, the expo offered local Veterans a chance to ask questions about benefits and education opportunities. Several vendors also accepted resumes from participants with some receiving on the spot interviews.

Over 25 vendors, lined the ballroom of Texarkana College's Truman Arnold Center hoping to help local Veterans in the area.

"We want to help with this project every year," said Andy Loden, Recruiting and Training Coordinator for Express Employment Professionals. "We are looking forward to doing what we can to support a cause as important as The Wounded Warrior Expo."

The expo began with a ribbon cutting ceremony with RRAD Commander Col. Doyle Lassitter, DLA Defense Distribution Commander Lt. Col. Milton G. Kelly, depot Sgt. Maj. Theodore Dallmann, II as well as Texarkana Chamber Commerce President Jeff Sandford and Texarkana College President James Henry Russell.

"Anything we can do for the men and women who serve, we must try to do," said Russell. "We need to get them the best jobs available because they have given so much to this country."

According to Gomez, approximately 30 percent of Texarkana's residents are Veterans. Red River also holds close to same percentage with 33 percent Veterans currently employed at the depot.
