ANSBACH, Germany (Feb. 24, 2014) -- Outreach-KONTAKT Franken, the newly formed community outreach club of U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach, held its first regular meeting Feb. 18, 2014. This was the first meeting the group had since it elected board members earlier in February.
The group met in a Gasthof in Lammelbach, a small town outside of Herrieden, Germany, to eat, drink and socialize. The board members also arrived early to discuss immediate plans for upcoming activities as well as to discuss certain organizational details about the club.
The next meeting will be held in Ansbach at the Rezatstuben, Adalbert-Pilipp-Strasse 42, at 7 p.m. March 4. This regular meeting falls on Faschingsdienstag, or Fasching Tuesday (similar to Mardi Gras). Although it is not required, members are encouraged to dress in their Fasching costumes. The next meeting after that is March 18 at 7 p.m. A location has yet to be determined.
The club also plans on two sporting events, a bowling party March 22 -- time and location forthcoming -- and a Kegeln party at 7 p.m. April 1 at the Rezatstuben. Kegeln is a European sport similar to bowling except the ball has no holes, the ball is smaller and there are only nine pins.
