The Eighth Army Band will perform a holiday concert together with the Kook So Ho Didim Dance Company at the Seoul Performing Arts Center, Dec. 1, 2013, in Seoul, South Korea.

SEOUL, South Korea (Nov. 29, 2013) -- The Eighth Army Band will perform a holiday concert at the Seoul Performing Arts Center, South Korea's top concert venue, Dec. 1.

The Eighth Army Band will perform its annual holiday concert for American military personnel and South Korean citizens together with the Kook Soo Ho Didim Dance Company, a company whose repertoire includes traditional and modern dance.

Eighth Army Band Director Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jared DeLaney said it is an honor to perform to the band's signature concert at such a prestigious venue.

According to DeLaney, the band has been rehearsing for the concert for a month and planning for it for over six months.

"This year, the Eighth Army Band will surround the audience with sounds of the holiday season, performing familiar Christmas and Hanukkah tunes," said DeLaney, who has been the commander and director of the Eighth Army Band for 19 months.

DeLaney described playing at the Seoul Performing Arts Center as a "once-in-a-life-time opportunity."

"The Seoul Arts Center is the premier performance venue in Korea. It is listed in the top 10 venues in the world," said DeLaney, a native of Forth Worth, Texas. "I've often heard it referred to as the Carnegie Hall of Korea."

"This is an example of how our host nation feels about us and how much they value the ROK-U.S. Alliance," said DeLaney.
