YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea - The Eighth Army commanding general thanked U.S. Army Air Defenders for their service on the Korean Peninsula May 9.
Eighth Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. John D. Johnson visited Solders from the 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade on Osan Air Base and the 2-1st Air Defense Artillery Battalion on Camp Carroll.
At both locations, Johnson recognized the Air Defenders for the important role they play in the defense of South Korea.
Part of the 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, the 2-1st Air Defense Artillery Battalion is one of two U.S. ADA battalions in South Korea that employs the Patriot Missile Defense System.
Johnson has made numerous visits to combat units across the Korean Peninsula since assuming command of Eighth Army in November 2010.
The Eighth Army commanding general also previously visited the 35th ADA Brigade's 6-52nd Air Defense Artillery Battalion at Suwon Air Base, South Korea.
