Global Force Next: “Protecting Tomorrow through Persistent Modernization"

Tuesday, March 9, 2021

What is it?

The Global Force Next is an important platform for the U.S. Army to communicate its needs for maintaining overmatch against adversaries and remaining the world’s premier land fighting force.

The 2021 GFN is a forum for Army professionals to discuss future armed conflict and what the Army must do to ensure “Protecting Tomorrow through Persistent Modernization.” Army leaders will highlight modernization efforts and lessons learned, increase understanding of interoperable platforms for multi-domain operations warfighting and update the force and our industry partners on Project Convergence. This will take place virtually from March 16-18.

What are the current and past efforts of the Army?

The Army is building towards the modern, multi-domain operations-capable Force of 2035, and reinvesting resources back into the top modernization priorities. Global Force Next will allow Army and industry leaders to virtually explore modernization efforts, while underlining that People will remain the foundation to the Army’s success. During the symposium Army professions will have the opportunity to increase their understanding of the challenges facing the future Army.

Featured topics include:

  • Army modernization efforts at echelon
  • Project Convergence and its relation to modernization priorities
  • Army advances in technology and partnerships
  • Modernization and the sustainment warfighting function
  • Updates from the eight Cross-Functional Modernization Teams

What continued efforts does the Army have planned?

Maintaining overmatch requires decisions and discussions that puts the Army in position to maximize the value of every dollar spent and that help us ensure modernization across weapon systems, infrastructure, training, processes and skillsets needed to integrate across the force to compete in multi-domain operations.

The Army will continue to seek platforms like the Global Force Next to engage key audiences, amplify messages and enhance opportunities for successful industry partnerships.

Why is this important to the Army?

People are the Army’s number one priority. Global Force Next provides members of the Army profession an opportunity to learn about the force’s modernizations priorities and what will ensure the Army remains the world’s premier land fighting force.
