FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Fort Bragg's Garrison commander, Col. Jeffrey M. Sanborn, hosted the quarterly town hall meeting on Nov. 29, to address a variety of questions brought up by Fort Bragg's Soldiers and their Families.
Representatives from the Directorate of Public Works, Womack Army Medical Center, Directorate of Emergency Services, the Provost Marshal's Office, Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Department of Defense Education Activity, Picerne Military Housing, Civilian Personnel Office, Army and Air Force Exchange Service, Defense Commissary Agency and the garrison command sergeant major were on hand to answer questions and address concerns.
"This feedback is vitally important. It allows us to be a more robust community to support the needs of everyone. Everything you provide is important," said Sanborn in his opening remarks.
The issues brought up ranged from the need for crosswalks and speed bumps to the I.D. card facility not taking walk in appointments. Also, a recurring concern was the speeding issue on Fort Bragg to include Linden Oaks. PMO is aware of the issue and is currently dispatching three patrols in Linden Oaks.
Sanborn acknowledge that it was the military polices' duty to enforce the speed limit on the installation, but he also urged Soldiers and Families to be responsible and keep safety in mind and look out for one another.
"Everyone is in charge of safety; whoever is out there, you need to stop someone (if they are in danger or acting carelessly) and say something," said Sanborn.
A positive change brought up was the move of CYS registration from the Soldier Support Center to Wonderful World of Kids off of Knox Street to make it easier for parents to register their kids by providing easier parking and access.
A new initiative was emplaced at the town hall and those who were unable to attend the meeting were able to post their questions on the Fort Bragg Facebook page. As questions popped up on the page's wall, a representative from the Fort Bragg Public Affairs Office asked the question and typed up the response as it was being answered. Each question and answer was typed up on the event's wall so Facebookers could interact throughout the entire meeting.

The community is encouraged to come out for the next town hall scheduled for Feb. 28, 2013, at 9 a.m., in the Yntema Club off of Gruber Road.
