Lt. Col. Brian Hughes, commander of the 2nd General Support Aviation Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, is lowered on a hoist from a Black Hawk MEDEVAC helicopter during training on Fort Riley, July 28. This is the first time the battalion’s MEDEVAC company has conducted hoist training since its return from Iraq this March. Like the rest of the Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, the MEDEVAC company is back in the full-swing of its training cycle here, and is working around the clock with ground units across Fort Riley.
