HONOLULU -- Hawaii’s Operation Military Kids, or OMK, will host a Family Resiliency Retreat in August for military families with youth ages 6-17 years old who have experienced multiple deployments. Younger siblings may also attend.
Camp dates are Aug. 19-21 at Camp Erdman on the North Shore. Service members must attend camp with their children.
OMK supports most of the costs for camp; each camp participant is only responsible for a modest fee.
The camp guides families through the tough times and lingering strains of multiple deployments. OMK provides families with communication and problem-solving skills needed to help rise above adversity.
Besides informal educational experiences, OMK’s recreational activities include hiking, an alpine tower, a climbing wall, swimming and archery.
Camp Erdman is a full-residential facility that provides all meals and lodging.
OMK is the Army’s collaborative effort to support children and youth of National Guard, Reserve and active duty families impacted by war.
