The FORSCOM band building 'show goes on' despite wintry weather

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - While the snow earlier in January slowed things up a few days on the outside, work continued on the inside of FORSCOM's Army Ground Forces Band's new training facility. The project is 55 percent complete and on schedule for completion in June. The 18,748-square-foot building will have a state-of-the-art concert band rehearsal hall, a jazz band/large group rehearsal room for a 25-piece ensemble, six small group rehearsal rooms for five- to eight-piece ensembles, and seven individual practice rooms. Acoustic control will be accomplished through finish selections such as acoustical ceiling tile, acoustical wall panels and acoustic floor panels, particularly in the main rehearsal room, practice rooms and main lobby. All finish materials have environmental benefits and are durable and easy to maintain and replace as necessary. The band will move to Fort Bragg with Headquarters, Army Forces Command, the summer of 2011, in accordance with the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure legislation.
