WARREN, Mich. - Scott J. Davis of Charlevoix accepted the responsibilities Friday as Program Executive Officer for PEO Ground Combat Systems, the U.S. Army's premier Acquisition organization providing the Joint Warfighter with mission capable ground combat systems.
Officiating over the change of leadership ceremony from Brigadier General R. David Ogg to Davis was the Honorable Malcolm Ross O'Neill, Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics & Technology) and Army Acquisition Executive.
The Program Executive Officer is responsible for about $35 billion per year, said O'Neill. He is "responsible for stewarding the resources of your tax money; the resources of the manpower; the material of the U.S. Army. It is a responsibility that is only able to be executed with the support of some very outstanding personnel."
Davis was selected for the Senior Executive Service program in November 2005.
He previously served as the Deputy Program Executive Officer, PEO Integration, and was responsible for the organization and management of acquisition programs designed to support Brigade Combat Team modernization. Davis led development, production, fielding, and sustainment activities for systems such as the Ground Combat Vehicle, Unmanned Ground Vehicles, Unmanned Air Systems, and unattended munitions.
An Army Reserve Officer, Davis is currently assigned to the Assistant Secretary of the Army (AL&T) and has held a variety of positions from platoon leader through battalion executive officer.
Davis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Wayne State University.
