September training advisory for Army ranges on Oahu

Local Army units are scheduled to conduct routine training activities in September that may be heard by surrounding communities.

Training can occur during daytime and nighttime hours and is subject to change. Weather, such as overcast conditions and Kona winds (southerly) can increase noise and vibrations. Should individuals hear noise, there is no immediate danger.

Residents should be aware that helicopter aerial gunnery live-fire training is scheduled over the Labor Day weekend and may result in increased noise in surrounding communities.

To report concerns related to noise or training, contact the U.S. Army Hawaii’s Community Concern Line at (808) 766-7778 or usag.hawaii.comrel@army.mil. Concerns are responded to during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

For the community’s awareness, the training is as follows:

  • September 1-13, 20-25, 26-30 - Artillery, mortar, and demolitions live fire training on Schofield Barracks (Day and Night Live Fire, including late evening and early morning hours): Training hours will be Midnight – 11:59 p.m.
  • September 4-7 - Helicopter aerial gunnery live-fire training, Schofield Barracks Range Complex: Day and Night training
  • September 7-11, 14-18, 21-25 - East Range: Range and Jungle Tactics, Small Arms Blank Fire: 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily
  • September 11-30 - East Range: Aviation Training/Rappel Master School: 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily

The military appreciates the understanding and continued support of the local community. While sometimes loud, this training is critical to ensure military units and service members are ready to accomplish their mission and return home safely.

The Army produces this monthly schedule to alert neighbors of upcoming training activities that are louder in nature and may be heard outside the military installation. This schedule is subject to change and is not inclusive of all Army aviation or East Range training activities (between Wahiawa and Mililani Mauka).
