REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- Misty Steward, a contracting officer with the U.S. Army Contracting Command-Redstone Arsenal (ACC-RSA), received the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Huntsville Chapter's 2026 Professional and Technical Award during the chapter's annual dinner and awards program June 18. The award recognizes outstanding civilian contributions supporting Army readiness and modernization.
Steward was one of several ACC-RSA employees recognized during the annual event. Angela Williams, Mark Dillinger and Christopher Sykes were also nominated in their respective award categories, highlighting the organization's commitment to excellence across the workforce.
Steward supports the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center through ACC-RSA's former Space, Missile Defense and Special Projects Directorate. In her role as a contracting officer, she managed five Special Access Program indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts valued at approximately $350 million and executed four new task orders valued at more than $110 million in support of advanced prototyping efforts.
Her work provides critical contracting support for programs that directly support Army modernization priorities and the Aviation & Missile Center's mission.
"Misty's selection reflects the expertise, dedication and professionalism that define the ACC-RSA workforce," said Jeffrey Caldwell, acting executive director of ACC-RSA. "Her accomplishments demonstrate the critical role our acquisition professionals play in delivering capabilities to Soldiers and supporting Army modernization priorities. Caldwell said Steward's recognition reflects the impact of ACC-RSA's civilian workforce and the organization's commitment to excellence in support of the warfighter.
Steward said the recognition reflects the efforts of the team around her and the importance of supporting the Army mission.
"I am very appreciative and truly humbled by this recognition," Steward said. "I'm fortunate to be part of a wonderful and collaborative team, and this honor reflects the collective effort we put in every day."
Steward said she remains motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the Army mission and support those who depend on the acquisition workforce to deliver capabilities to Soldiers.
"I strive to be a good steward and support the mission in every way possible," she said. "Knowing that my efforts contribute to something meaningful motivates me to show up and give my best each day."
While Steward earned the Professional and Technical Award, ACC-RSA leaders emphasized that all four nominees exemplified the talent and dedication found throughout the organization.
"Each of our nominees represents the very best of ACC-RSA," Caldwell said. "Their contributions strengthen Army readiness, support our customers and demonstrate the vital role our civilian workforce plays in accomplishing the mission."
The recognition highlights ACC-RSA's role in enabling Army readiness and modernization through innovative acquisition solutions and the dedication of the workforce supporting those efforts.
