Craig Callahan, a supply technician at the Security Assistance Command, in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, has been selected as the command’s Employee for the second quarter, fiscal 2025.
Callahan provides security assistance case requisition support and guidance in support of Israel and other Middle East programs. He manages a portfolio consisting of requirements for 193 foreign military sales cases with a total value of $5.1 billion. Israel is one of the most active foreign military sales and security assistance programs within CENTCOM and USASAC.
Part of his duties include managing one of the most robust simplified non-standard acquisition processes and non-standard requisitioning processes within USASAC by quantity and complexity with over 1,150 assets between the two processes.
Since joining the Israel team in 2023 Callahan had to master his duties and responsibilities very quickly. Over the last two years he has gone to great lengths to meet the demands of Israel to include support of continuous communication with the Israel Ground Forces, Navy, Intel Corps, and logistics. He works closely with the two Israeli security assistance liaison officers at USASAC to grow and manage a strong relationship with them.
Notably, in the last 18 months, Israel has become the largest priority for USASAC CENTCOM due their ongoing military conflicts in the region. He has shown unwavering support to his program as well as the stakeholders within the foreign military sales and security assistance community that support Israel. He has performed at levels where it appears he was working around the clock. There are an overwhelming amount of Israel requisitions and continual requirements, however, Callahan continues to keep up with the demand.
“His daily actions on requisitions coming from Israel allow the seamless acquisition and
supply of materiel for their military services,” Daniel Wevodau, logistics management specialist at USASAC and Callahan’s supervisor, said. “He has made a direct impact on the Israel program over the last 24 months with his high level of motivation and determination. His actions are now a standard of how supply technicians need to be there for their partners, their team, and their friends working at agencies to their right and left.”
Yet even as busy the Israel program keeps Callahan, he has taken extensive time from his duties as supply technician to personally train and assist many other new supply technicians within the CENTCOM Regional Operations Branch. He is one of the most experienced and hands on experts when it comes to requisitioning, publications and supply issues due to the ongoing Israel conflict and high operations tempo.
“Mr. Callahan was thrown to wolves on the most demanding program in the CENTCOM area of responsibility in his first two years with USASAC,” Wevodau said. “He has proven his metal, honed his skills, and mastered his craft in a volatile and unique learning environment. During his time on the Israel program, the partners faced overwhelming demands, and every case action was a priority. He is a team player who is always going above and beyond to assist the team.”
Many of Callahan’s peers mention his humility and patriotism, and that he lives the Army values every day.
“It’s an honor to be recognized as Employee of the Quarter,” Callahan said. “I’m passionate about the work I do in support of our partner nations, and I take great pride in making a meaningful contribution.”
