Safety is a daily concern. Everyone has been impacted by an accident during their lives – whether by vehicle, a misstep, overexertion or other causes.

The Garrison Safety Office wants to ensure the entire workforce makes safety a priority.

Preparations are underway for Redstone Installation Safety Day, June 3 at the Redstone Activity Field, 3732 Aerobee Road off Patton. The planned time is from 9 a.m. until noon.

“It’s time to reinforce our commitment to safety and a healthy workplace,” Charlie Carter, the Garrison’s safety and occupational health director, said during an initial Teams meeting Feb. 4.

“We want to make Safety Day not only informative but also impactful to everyone involved.”

Everyone on Redstone, the entire workforce, is invited. Organizers plan to have booths, vendors and training sessions. Indoor space for classrooms is available in the Community Activity Center.

“We chose June because it’s National Safety Month,” Aviance Britt, the safety office’s coordinator for the event along with co-worker Kendall Lewis, said.

Proposed activities include an unexploded ordnance information booth, Arrive Alive Tour (for distracted, buzzed and drunk driving), aviation safety presentation, fall protection, fire simulation, Skywarn (storm spotter training), and personal protective equipment information from Martin Supply.

“We want to make sure we have a really good turnout,” Carter said. Organizers would like to see at least 300 people take advantage of this opportunity for a memorable safety experience.
