Fort Meade, MD - The 7th Signal Command (Theater) (7SC(T)) Headquarters & Headquarters Company (HHC) held a change of command ceremony Aug. 29, 2024 on Fort Meade, Maryland, welcoming Capt. Sophie Rosado as she assumed command from Capt. Traceel Andrews. The ceremony livestream recording can be viewed here.

Brig. Gen. Eric J. Van Den Bosch, Commanding General, 7th Signal Command (Theater), and Deputy Commanding General, Network Enterprise Technology Command, hosted the ceremony. Capt. Andrews, who has commanded the 7SC(T) HHC since May 2022, passed the unit's colors to Brig. Gen. Van Den Bosch, who passed them to Capt. Rosado.

The passing of the colors, which represent a unit’s history and accomplishments, is a time-honored Army tradition symbolizing the formal transfer of authority and continuity of leadership from the outgoing company commander to the incoming.

In his remarks, Brig. Gen. Van Den Bosch said Capt. Andrews assumed command in May 2022, just after part of the 7SC(T) headquarters moved to Fort Meade from Fort Eisenhower, Georgia.

“We needed strong leadership and support so we could focus on this major transition—and that is what we got from Traceel and her team,” he said.

“She and her team willingly took on new responsibilities, solved problems when they arose, and—most importantly—took care of our people so they could take care of the mission,” he added.

In her remarks, Capt. Andrews recognized the two brigadier generals who previously commanded the 7SC(T) during her tenure—Brig. Gen. Mark Miles and Brig. Gen. Charles “Rob” Parker. She then thanked Brig. Gen. Van Den Bosch for his mentorship.

“Your support and guidance has been greatly appreciated,” she said. “You carved out the time for me to learn and see more of the Theater and 7th’s impact within the Army. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from you.”

Capt. Andrews also expressed gratitude for the Soldiers and Civilians of the Command, and her HHC team for overcoming challenges they faced, such as the transition to a new personnel system for service members.

“These experiences have not only tested our resiliency, but demonstrated our ability to adapt and excel in the face of change,” she said.

The brigade’s new commander, Capt. Sophie Rosado, hails from Wiesbaden, Germany. She graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2020, and commissioned as an Armor Officer. From 2021 to 2024, she served in the 8th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Scout Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Squadron S4 in Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, and Camp Hovey, South Korea.

Capt. Rosado thanked Brig. Gen. Van Den Bosch and CSM McGuire for the opportunity to lead the 7SC(T) HHC, and recognized Capt. Andrews and HHC First Sgt. David Walik for their leadership of the company.

“Your infinite care for the organization is evident, and I hope to match your enthusiasm and dedication to the team,” she told them.

The 7SC(T) is the U.S. Army’s premier communications provider with global reach, enabling the Army's ability to build, train, compete, fight, and win across complex Joint & Coalition Multi- and All-Domain environments. The Command executes theater-level DODIN operations; and plans and delivers continual improvements to the Unified Network to provide the CONUS digital infrastructure required by National Leaders, the Joint Force, and the Army for data-driven operations and decision making.

The Command has a split-based headquarters with operational components at Fort Meade, Maryland, and support components at Fort Eisenhower, Georgia. It has three subordinate signal brigades: the 21st Theater Signal Brigade, headquartered at Fort Detrick, Maryland; the 93d Theater Signal Brigade, headquartered at Fort Eustis, Virginia; and the 106th Theater Signal Brigade, headquartered at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
