U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Kevin Nguyen, a instructor/shooter, assigned to the U.S. Army Marksmanship unit, earned his spot on Team USA in the Paralympic 50-meter prone rifle event (R6) for the 2024 Paris Paralympics after completing USA Shooting’s Paralympic Trials Part 3 at the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) Talladega Marksmanship Park in Talladega, Alabama, April 21-28, 2024.

The Fort Moore Soldier won one of the two available smallbore spots for the Paralympic Games, with the second spot being filled by Sgt. 1st Class John Joss, a U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program (WCAP) athlete.

Nguyen, a Westminster, California native earned his Team USA placement by beating out 5 other competitors with a total score of 1232.7, which was 16.2 points over the second place finisher. The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will be the second Olympics for Nguyen. He competed at the 2020/2021 Tokyo Paralympics in the mixed 50-meter rifle prone event, as well as the mixed 10-meter air rifle prone event.
