V Corps is known for interoperability among NATO allies, especially Poland. Since we have a headquarters there, it only makes sense we have a Polish general on our command team.

Maj. Gen. Maciej Jablonski, V Corps deputy commanding general of interoperability, is excited to work with V Corps Soldiers helping all to better understand how to effectively work with Polish soldiers and ensure the mission is a success.

“I am [the] deputy for interoperability, so I am looking to achieve very soon a higher level of interoperability between the U.S. Army and Europe.” said Jablonski. “As a previous commander, I fully understand how that interoperability is important. With using the other armies in conflict one plus one no longer equals two, one plus one equals three."

Jablonski is married with a son and his family is excited about being here in the states. He visited the U.S. before, but his wife and son have not. He was all over, but this is his first time in Kentucky. They are excited to explore all Kentucky has to offer. His wife loves the beach and is very excited to go to Florida and relax. His son is anxiously waiting to go to New York City since that is something he has heard about quite a bit. Jablonski, an avid sailor, wants to go wherever his family wants to, as long as he can go sailing at one point. He is excited his son is fitting in at school and is working on getting his permit.

“He [his son] likes it here, he is in high school and likes the way it is done, especially driving in America,” said Jablonski. “He is much friendlier to kids and has many new friends so he is lucky being here…. He asks all the time if I can take him driving since he can get his license here before he can in Poland.”

He started his military career in 1988. Before coming to V Corps, Jablonski was the Land Forces Inspector, responsible for organization, training and armament of all land forces units in the Polish Army. He is excited for the transition to V Corps and the work he will do here.

“I was very lucky during my service,” said Jablonski. “I was a tanker so I started as a tank platoon leader. I also spent lots of time on a staff position. I was chief of operations land force command. I spent half as a commander and half as a staff officer. As a V Corps deputy [this] is a great opportunity to get a new experience. I can’t compare it to anything because it is bigger and more challenging.”

Jablonski wants to let Soldiers know that he expects them to work just as hard as always and always look forward, not back, focusing on the mission at hand to succeed.

“I am a Soldier of V Corps so if I say what I expect of V Corps Soldiers, it’s what I expect of myself,” said Jablonski. “First of all I expect from myself and the other Soldiers of V Corps to be focused and give all our might to the accomplishment of the mission. No matter what the mission will be, no matter how tough, how difficult to execute, to achieve the final outcome we have to focus. I expect all Soldiers of V Corps to do our best with what we can to accomplish the mission. I expect we will be loyal to each other as loyalty is very important. I expect that we support each other and never leave the other, even in the worst nightmare scenario.”

Jablonski, like most Polish soldiers were told about the Polish general that was undefeated in WWII, General Stanisław Maczek. Maczek, while an amazing soldier, led a very simple life after the war. He left the military and lived on a farm unbothered and never returned to Poland. Jablonski says he is someone not only he, but most Polish soldiers look up to, and strive to be. He wants all Soldiers to know about him, but to also live by the advice he got.

“Always look forward,” said Jablonski. “Be very optimistic and it will be done. We will achieve all goals.”
