Military Police Corps set to celebrate 81st anniversary during Regimental Week festivities

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — Fort Leonard Wood will celebrate the 81st birthday of the U.S. Army Military Police Corps during the 2022 MP Regimental Week, scheduled for Sept. 19 through 24.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “81 Years Ready, On Call — On Guard — On Mission.”

This year’s events include:

  • MP Memorial Tribute, Sept. 19: The ceremony begins at 9 a.m. at Memorial Grove. The event will be livestreamed on the USAMPS Facebook page and is open to individuals with access to Fort Leonard Wood. Call 573.563.8006 for more information.
  • Regimental Bass Tournament, Sept. 20: The tournament, which begins at 5:30 a.m., will be held at Public Beach No. 2 in Osage Beach, Missouri. Cost is $25 per boat. Each boat must have at least one active-duty service member, veteran, active or retired law enforcement officer or first responder, or USAMPS employee on board. Participants can register by emailing homr75@hotmail.com, calling 573.855.4965 or onsite beginning at 5:30 a.m.
  • Regimental Ride, Sept. 20:  Service members from all branches, veterans, law enforcement officers and USAMPS employees will meet at 9 a.m. at Nutter Field House for the annual regimental motorcycle ride.   • Regimental Command Sgt. Maj. James W. Frye NCO of Excellence Award ceremony, Sept. 20: The USAMPS will recognize the hard work and dedication of NCOs during a presentation at 2 p.m. in Lincoln Hall Auditorium.
  • 5K Fun Run, Sept. 21: Line-up for the run begins at 5:30 a.m., and the run will start at 6 a.m. on Gammon Field. Uniform for military members is the Army Physical Fitness Uniform, with the regimental shirt being optional, and athletic attire for all others.
  • Regimental Retreat, Sept. 21: The retreat will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence Plaza. Those unable to attend in person can watch online on the USAMPS Facebook page. Call 573.563.1994 for more information.
  • Golf Scramble, Sept. 22: Tee off for the 4-person team golf scramble will be at 9 a.m. at the Piney Valley Golf Course. Cost is $60 per person. Call 573.329.4770 to sign up.
  • Hall of Fame induction, Sept. 23: Induction for the class of 2022 will begin at 1 p.m. in Lincoln Hall Auditorium. This event is open to the public.
  • Regimental Ball, Sept. 24: The final event of the week will be held at 5 p.m. at Nutter Field House. Attire is formal. Cost is $50 per person. Attendees can RSVP and purchase tickets here. Call 573.563.6314 for more information.
