CAMP WALKER, Republic of Korea — The Daegu Army Community Service (ACS) team kicked off the month of November by re-opening the doors to an updated lounge at the Camp Walker Soldier Support Center (SSC). USAG Daegu is committed to being an assignment of choice by providing excellent quality of life support and programs for military communities.

"We had a vision. The vision was to transform this current area into a space that would be inviting to the Soldiers, to the family members and to the community," said USAG Daegu Community Service Director Robin Sherrod. "

The lounge, which is located in room 211 of the SSC, houses members of USAG Daegu's Information and Referral team.

"We are here to assist members of our community. We help answer questions and get them where they need to go," said ACS Specialist Pia Santos.

"Soldiers like to utilize our computers. We have multiple CAC-enabled computers and printing capabilities, which is very useful for them when they're PCS'ing. This makes it very convenient for them to get printed copies of their orders or other administrative paperwork."

Army Community Service programs support Soldiers, civilian employees and Families in maintaining readiness by coordinating and delivering comprehensive, responsive services that promote self-reliance, resiliency and stability.

The newly-improved ACS lounge is just one of several local projects USAG Daegu is working on to improve the quality of life and readiness of the community. Notable projects include providing the community with more housing options, opening a new restaurant at Camp Carroll and renovating the fitness center there.
