ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- Top-level leaders from across the U.S. Army Sustainment Command converged here, Oct. 19-20, to attend the ASC Senior Leader Forum, where they participated in classes and team meetings to assist them in carrying out their missions.
Leaders from ASC’s seven Army Field Support Brigades, ASC-Army Reserve Element, and LOGCAP Support Brigade, joined in a series of briefings conducted by ASC headquarters personnel, and unit leaders.
ASC is the logistics arm of its higher headquarters, the U.S. Army Materiel Command, and provides warfighters with everything they need to do their job. ASC has a worldwide presence in more than 20 countries and 32 states with 40,000-plus personnel under the command structure.
The AFSBs oversee more than 70 logistics readiness centers, or LRCs, offering daily services to Soldiers, including operating dining facilities, issuing uniforms, laundry services, transportation, lodging, and much more.
The purpose of the SLF was to provide a common view of the current operational environment within ASC regarding its mission and key tasks in support of Army readiness.
Gen. Ed Daly, commanding general, AMC, addressed attendees virtually during the first day to kick things off. He was later followed by Maj. Gen. Chris Mohan, ASC commanding general.
During the first day, briefing topics included Corps and Division Logistics Support Elements regarding equipping, doctrine and integration; fiscal year 2022 budget execution; and installation logistics baseline services. Leaders of the seven AFSBs, LSB, and ASC-ARE also conducted briefings.
The second day included briefings on ReARMM – Regionally Aligned Readiness and Modernization Model, special staff, which included the inspector general, equal employment opportunity, internal review and audit compliance office, logistics readiness center optimization/manpower update, and operationalizing LOGCAP – Logistics Civil Augmentation Program.
ReARMM is providing Army units with a construct that will align units regionally to meet current Joint Force demand while preparing the force for the future.
LOGCAP is a program administered by ASC through contracts to provide contingency support to augment the Army-force structure.
The forum concluded with awards and recognition. It was announced that:
• AFSBn-Korea, 403rd AFSB, was recognized for being selected as the ASC’s winner for maintenance excellence in the “Table of Distribution and Allowances” category for fiscal 2022.
• AFSBn-Fort Carson’s Installation Material Division, 407th AFSB, was selected as ASC’s runner up for maintenance excellence in the “Table of Distribution and Allowances” category for fiscal 2022.
• LRC Fort Sill, was selected as the ASC winner for maintenance excellence in the “Active Army All Others” category for fiscal 2022.
The Army Award for Maintenance Excellence was established in 1982 by the Department of the Army to recognize exceptional accomplishments in maintenance. The aforementioned units will now advance to the next competition level at AMC.
Mohan also presented Coins of Excellence to ASC headquarters personnel who helped facilitate the forum.
