Leaders, the Land of the Morning Calm awaits you. Login to AIM 2 now and check out what's available at all levels in South Korea.

Eighth Army’s top priority is "People First.” The field army and its six major subordinate commands strive to build trust and cohesive units through leader development and communication.

Leaders emphasize Korea offers an exciting and rewarding cultural and career experience for Soldiers and families.

Eighth Army units are spread across the peninsula among the 2nd Infantry Division, 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 1st Theater Tactical Signal Brigade, 65th Medical Brigade, 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command and 501st Military Intelligence Brigade.

The main installation areas are USAG Yongsan-Casey, USAG Daegu and USAG Humphreys – the largest overseas Army base with $10 billion of recently added housing, facilities and amenities.

“Korea has come a long way in the last couple decades and has so much to offer,” said Col. Kelly French, Eighth Army G1. “I was stationed here in 1993. Some of my best Army memories and friends originated from here. I have spent over eight years stationed in Europe and know it well, but I couldn’t be happier to be back in Korea.”

Officers are encouraged to get on AIM 2 now before Nov. 3 when this cycle ends.

French said Korea has plenty of key development and broadening opportunities for those qualified and willing to extend.

“Reach out early and often, schedule an interview and complete your resume,” French advises.

The colonel added that South Korea has incredible travel opportunities and the opportunity for cultural discovery with KATUSAs (Korean Augmentation to the U.S. Army) Soldiers. She also emphasized the numerous bike paths available to riders.

If you’re an active duty Army officer looking for your next career broadening assignment, keep Eighth Army and South Korea in mind and discuss your options with your branch manager.
