2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade establishes regional alignment in Africa

This month 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade (2nd SFAB) sent Advisors to conduct security force assistance support for United States Army Africa (USARAF). This deployment of advisors reflects the Security Force Assistance Brigades (SFABs) goal of regional alignment.

"The 2nd SFAB is perfectly matched for our theater, bringing a range of abilities and expertise tailor made for AFRICOM area of responsibility," said Maj. Gen. Andrew M. Rohling, the U.S. Army Africa commanding general. "We will welcome the Soldiers of the 2nd SFAB to our team."

2nd SFAB will provide Advisors that will partner with foreign security partners across the continent of Africa to increase theater security cooperation efforts within the region.

“The 2nd SFAB Advisors are prepared and trained specifically for this type of mission. The Advisors that 2nd SFAB provides will expand security cooperation initiatives within the region and build upon our partnership with foreign security partners as we face future challenges together” said Col. Michael Sullivan, commander, 2nd SFAB.

The Department of Defense recently realigned 2nd SFAB to the U.S. Arica Command area of responsibility. These realignments are an effort promote enduring regional stability and enable its partners throughout the African continent to lead in their response to threats and build toward establishing and maintaining long-term foundational security.
