Fort Bragg, NC – Paratroopers assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 82nd Special Troops Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade, participated in a brigade wide field training exercise, Aug 10-14, on Fort Bragg.
The week long training exercise consisted of the setup of mission command systems, validate and conduct battle tracking and refinement of those systems, and maintain equipment readiness.
1st Sgt. Stacey Cooley, HHC 1st Sgt., says the field exercise is a build up for the “All American Division” annual warfighter exercise.
“The Provider training exercise coincides with exercise Panther Storm. We are assisting with establishing the tactical control point for the main command post, pulling security, and roving guard for the entire footprint,” said Cooley.
The purpose of the exercise is to stress mission command systems and analog battle tracking in a rigid environment to enhance the Brigade tactical standard operating procedures said Cooley.
Paratroopers also conducted preventive maintenance checks while out in the field.
“My mission is to conduct standard maintenance checks on the equipment such as generators and vehicles to ensure we are maintaining equipment readiness”, said Pvt. 1st Class Jermaine McMillan, Information and Technology Specialist, HHC, STB.
The Paratroopers staff section provides senior leaders with an orientation of the main tactical command post and their capabilities while making adjustments to the tactical command post based on guidance from the commander.
Providers successfully supported all requirements for 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division in exercise Panther Storm and provided mission command from its Brigade tactical operations center during provider training exercise.
