ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- Secretary of the Army Ryan D. McCarthy, and Gen. Paul J. LaCamera, commanding general of U.S. Army Pacific, were among the dignitaries who visited Camp Carroll, South Korea, Jan. 29.

Other distinguished visitors included Maj. Gen. Daniel J. Christian, deputy commanding general - Sustainment, Eighth Army, and Brig. Gen Mark T. Simerly, commanding general, 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command.

The delegation toured Army Prepositioned Stocks-4 facilities, was briefed on the 403rd Army Field Support Brigade's mission set, and learned about Army Field Support Battalion-Northeast Asia capabilities.

AFSBn-NEA, commanded by Lt. Col. John M. Ruths, provides readiness to USARPAC through the mission command of APS-4 assets located in Korea and Japan. The battalion receives, stores, maintains, accounts for and, on order, issues, APS-4 assets in order to provide strategic flexibility, support, and depth to U.S. Army forces.

The 403rd AFSB, commanded by Col. Wheeler R. Manning and headquartered at Camp Henry, South Korea, is a subordinate unit of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command headquartered at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois. ASC, the control hub for global Army logistics, falls under the U.S. Army Materiel Command, headquartered at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. AMC, a four-star command headed by Gen. Gustave Perna, delivers logistics, sustainment and materiel readiness from the installation to the forward tactical edge to ensure globally dominant land force capabilities.
