GRAFENWOEHR, Germany - The U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria Housing Division continues to introduce improvements with the Barracks Furniture Replacement Program.

At 45 U.S. Army buildings, contractors are busy replacing furnishings at Tower Barracks, Rose barracks and the Hohenfels Training Area.

"We have been changing out the old furniture for some months now, but with the receipt of this latest shipment, we will be replacing more furnishings," said Johann Meyer, chief of centralized furnishing management office at USAG Bavaria.

"The project, valued at more than $4.1 million, was also one of the highest dollar amount contracts executed by the Furnishings Program," said Meyer.

With an all-in approach, USAG Bavaria's Housing has one key emphasis in mind.

"The focus of this project is to improve the quality of life for the Soldiers living in the barracks," said Meyer.

This project has been in the making for more than three years.

"The initial funding for this project was requested in FY15," said Meyer.

Although many units have been completed, housing is working diligently to complete this project throughout the USAG Bavaria footprint.

"USAG Bavaria Center Furnishings Program is designated as the central manager for the U.S. Army Installation Management Command Furnishings Program. To date, over 2,068 sets of furnishings for 24 buildings have been replaced," said Meyer.
