ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Illinois -- (Aug. 7, 2019) Commanders, managers, and sergeants majors from throughout Installation Management Command, Sustainment Region, met Aug. 7 at Rock Island Arsenal for the Fall ID-S Commander's Conference.

Topics at the conference ranged the gamut of issues facing garrison commanders and their staffs. The agenda included Logistics Readiness Centers, Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs; compliance with federal information security regulations, and many others.

Davis Tindoll Jr., director of ID-S, said he regards the conference as very important. "I consider it an important event any time you're all off your installations," he said to the assembled commanders.

He said the timing of the event allowed new commanders, as well as commanders who already have a year of experience, to attend before the closeout of the fiscal year in September. He also said it was a time for higher headquarters to learn from the field. "I want to know if we're not answering the mail," Tindoll said.

Tindoll also emphasized the experience the attendees could acquire both by talking to each other and by experiencing a different installation. "Take advantage of this. You'll find they do some things very differently and others very similar," he said.

Maj. Gen. Timothy McGuire, deputy IMCOM commander, said he would monitor the event with an eye toward the Lines of Effort outlined in the IMCOM campaign plan. "I'm especially interested in LOE 2, infrastructure, and in LOE 3, BASOPS (base operations), McGuire said. He also said another critical issue is gaining compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act in all information and technology formats.

The Commander's Conference is slated to run through Aug. 8 at Rock Island Arsenal.
