Sgt. Alonzo Johnson a religious affairs specialist assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 101st Airborne Division and Atlanta, Ga. native.

Wanting to get away from the area he grew up in and seeing the opportunities, benefits, travel and growth within the military, Johnson decided to join the Army two months after graduating high school.

"I like how hands on I can be with my job, it doesn't restrict me to a desk." said Johnson. "I can get personal with some people that come to me to get what's on their mind off."

Johnson added his initial intent was to join in the psychological field, but due to not having a degree, he was offered his current job.

Along with spending time with his wife Johnson enjoys fishing, going to the gym, going to the movies and playing video games from time to time. He has the aspiration of finishing his psychology degree from El Paso Community College and being accepted in the Army's Green to Gold program to become a behavioral health officer.
