Area Support Group-Afghanistan (ASG-A) Executive Assistant to the Commander Maria "Becky" Sandoval participates in an early morning 5K Color Run at Bagram Airfield Aug. 25. Deployed to Afghanistan for a one year tour, Sandoval is a management assistant with PEO Missiles and Space in Huntsville, Ala. The ASG mission in Afghanistan is to provide base life support--everything from billeting, laundry and food service to public works and quality of life support--to more than 35,000 personnel throughout the Combined Joint Operations Area-Afghanistan (CJOA-A). This includes U.S. military, DOD Civilians, Contractors and Coalition Forces who are contributing to Resolute Support, the NATO-led, non-combat mission to train, advise and assist the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF).
