Now on a six-stop tour of Air Force bases sponsored by Air Force Entertainment, country music artist Easton Corbin is set to also arrive at Fort Knox Aug. 18.

The reason for his visit here is to help celebrate the installation's 100 years of military service.

Corbin is known for hits like "A Little More Country Than That" and "Are You With Me." He will take a break from his A Girl Like You Tour that kicked off yesterday to provide a free concert to Soldiers, civilians and their families, courtesy of the Fort Knox Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation. The occasion, he said, will serve as a thank you to the military family for their service and sacrifice.

He knows a thing or two about that.

"My dad's an Army veteran," said Corbin. "He was drafted at age 18 and served one tour in the Army over in Vietnam."

Corbin said his father instilled a sense of patriotism and service to the nation as a big part of his raising, so when he was approached this year about putting on a concert for Army Soldiers and veterans at Fort Knox, it was a "no-brainer."

"It's a great honor to give back to those guys because they've done so much for us," said Corbin. "We play music for a living; they fight for a living. What we do compared to what they do, there's really no comparison. It's the least we can do to go out there and at least try to entertain them and give something back."

Corbin just wrapped up studio time in Nashville on a new album set. Before that, it had been three years since the launch of the About To Get Real album. His star continues to rise.

"This whole career thing has been a huge blessing in my life," said Corbin. "You know, it's one of those things that when you start as a new artist, you hope for the best but never know what's going to come out of it. The Lord's blessed me with a good career. It's just been a dream come true."

His Saturday evening concert at Fort Knox will come at the tail end of a week of centennial celebrations that will include an installation run, events at Lindsey Golf Course, swimming events at Anderson Aquatics Center, and several team events at Kilianski Sports Complex, Sadowski Center and Otto Physical Fitness Center.

"I'm looking forward to it," Corbin said. "I'm very thankful the sacrifice that our service men and women make, and their families as well. We do what we do because of what they do. That's why it's always an honor to give back when we can."

He knows a thing or two about that.

"To all my fans out there, I love 'em," said Corbin. "Hey, come out to the show; I promise you will not be disappointed. We're going to have a good time."
