FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- The U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command welcomed its new senior enlisted adviser during an Assumption of Responsibility ceremony, here, Feb. 22.

Command Sgt. Maj. Billy Webb, accompanied by his wife and one of his two daughters, most recently served as the command sergeant major for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

"Today is a very special day for me and my family," he said after thanking everyone for attending.

During the ceremony, both Webb's wife and daughter were presented with yellow roses, symbolizing a sign of welcome.

Brig. Gen. John Evans, commanding general, USASOAC, presided over the ceremony.

"Here is someone who has grown up in our enterprise," he said. "He's spent time all across our Army learning his trade."

Webb has served in every Army Special Operations Aviation enlisted leadership position which includes crew chief, flight engineer, platoon sergeant, first sergeant and command sergeant major.

Evans said Webb's experience within ARSOA made him the right fit for USASOAC's unique mission.

"The right decision was to bring him here," Evans said. "At this level, he will be focused up and out. I knew there was no better choice for this job."

Evans also pointed out that he had personally hand-picked his new senior enlisted adviser.

During the ceremony, Evans passed the unit colors to Webb symbolizing Webb's official assumption of responsibility.

"I look forward to working alongside each and every one of you as a teammate," said Webb. "I hope to continue the great effort (of those before him) going forward in this organization."

USASOAC organizes, mans, trains, resources and equips Army Special Operations Aviation and serves as the U.S. Army Special Operations Command's aviation staff proponent.
