Corpus Christi Army Depot Commander Col. Allan H. Lanceta and CCAD's Employee Assistance Program staff joined Naval Air Station Corpus Christi and base tenants to take part in a National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month proclamation signing and support run on the naval base, April 12.

The Army's 2017 theme is "Sexual Assault. Sexual Harassment. Not in Our Army." This theme reinforces the mindset that all members of the Army team are empowered and have a responsibility to address sexual assault, sexual harassment, retaliation and the behaviors that lead to such indiscipline so they do not detract from mission readiness.

Commanding officers from NASCC and its tenant units met in front of Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi early morning to sign the proclamation espousing dignity and respect for all and an end to sexual assault, sexual harassment and retaliation. Navy, Army, Marine Corps and Coast Guard reside together on the base and work together to achieve mission and personnel readiness at the Corpus Christi Army Depot, Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA), Marine Aviation Training Support Group 22 (MATSG-22), U.S. Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi and Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi.

After the signing, a Sexual Assault and Prevention Response run was held to help bring awareness to the program and resources available to base and military personnel, including civilians, contractors, families and the community.

Sexual assault response coordinators and resources were available for the community and participants at the finish line.

Army leaders are responsible for ensuring a values-based prevention climate free of sexual assault, sexual harassment and retaliation. By doing so, they protect the well-being of the Soldiers, Army Civilians and Family Members under their responsibility and reinforce values of dignity and respect.

As the proponent of the SHARP Program, commanders must ensure every report is taken seriously, investigations are completed in a thorough and timely fashion, and offenders are held appropriately accountable.
