Baumholder, Germany -- Soldiers assigned to the 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 10th US Army Air and Missile Defense Command represented US Army Europe at the Military Training Area Command South Change of Command on September 28th, 2016.
Lieutenant Colonel Reinhard Walter, Outgoing Commander, expressed his appreciation for the US military contingent present at the ceremony and declared it to be representative of the longstanding commitment and relationship between the two nations.
Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Lynch, Commander, 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment remarked "We volunteered to have our Soldiers present at this change of command to demonstrate our strong relationship with the Baumholder community and our German Allies. It's been a pleasure to work alongside the Germans for training areas and this was a small reminder of our appreciation to them for sharing their beautiful countryside with us."
After relinquishing command, Lieutenant Colonel Walter and the crowd observed an aircraft flyover, representing the passing of command. Lieutenant Colonel Tobias Kirchner assumed command of the Military Training Area Command South.
