WASHINGTON (Dec. 29, 2015) -- President Woodrow Wilson was honored on his birthday at the Washington National Cathedral with a Joint Armed Forces full honor wreath laying ceremony, Dec. 28.
Maj. Gen. Bradley A. Becker, commanding general of the Joint Task Force - National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington, laid the wreath representing the late president of the United States.
Wilson regarded himself as the personal representative of the people.
"No one but the president," said Wilson, "seems to be expected to look out for the general interests of the country."
He developed a program of progressive reform and asserted international leadership in building a new world order.
Wilson and his wife are buried on the grounds of the Washington National Cathedral. He was the first president to be buried in Washington, D.C.
