FORT SHAFTER, HAWAII- Soldiers from the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command attended the change of command ceremony for the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery on Sept. 4, 2013 at building 320 on Fort Shafter, Hawaii.
The ceremony was held to formally acknowledge the departure of Capt. Eric L. Blewett (the outgoing commander) and welcome Capt. Peter V. Bier (the incoming commander) to the position of battery commander.
Blewett served as the 6th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, Alpha battery commander prior to commanding the 94th AAAMDC headquarters and headquarters battery. He will continue serving with the 94th AAMDC as a sensor manager at the 613th Air and Space Operations Center located on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
When asked what advice he'd most likely pass on to Bier, Blewett said, "Just be flexible when dealing with the staff sections and approachable so that the Soldiers feel comfortable enough to talk to you."
"My leadership style is based around the premise that I don't like corner cutters," said Capt. Peter V. Bier, the incoming battery commander and a Milton, Wis. Native. Anything worth doing you might as well do it to the best of your ability. So if you're going to do a job you might as well give it your best. I also believe that there is a time for work and a time for play. When we're at work we're going to work hard and as soon as we're done working we're going to have some fun."
Bier later added, "I'm really excited and looking forward to taking over as the HHB commander. I'm honored that I was chosen and I can't wait to get started."
Prior to being selected to serve as the 94th AAAMDC HHB commander, Bier served as the 3rd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment Charlie battery commander located at Fort Bliss, TX.
