BRISTOL, Conn. (Army News Service, July 9, 2008) - The U.S. Army Reserve and Crowley Auto Group announced the launch of a public-private partnership that will allow both organizations to recruit, train and employ youth interested n serving the nation and pursuing a career in the automotive industry.
The agreement gives Reserve Soldiers opportunities for employment with Crowley Auto Group in areas such as mechanics, supply, logistics and administration after they successfully complete military occupational training.
Crowley Auto Group has nine Connecticut dealerships in Bristol, Plainville, and West Hartford.
For 37 years, Crowley Auto Group has been a leading dealer of foreign and domestic automobiles, including Buick, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, Jeep, KIA, Hummer, Nissan and Volkswagen.
"The support that our nation's military has received over the years and its owner, Kenneth Crowley, is a tribute to his patriotism," said Lt. Gen. Jack C. Stultz, chief, Army Reserve and commanding general of the Army Reserve Command. "His support of the Army Reserve's employer partnership program is another example of this long-standing commitment."
"This partnership will provide me with Soldier-employees of strong character, great knowledge and maturity," said Kenneth Crowley, president and CEO of Crowley Auto Group. "Being an employer partner is more than just having access to great employees, it is also a way for me to give back and say thank you to individuals who have dedicated themselves to serving our nation."
The employer partnership program seeks to formalize the relationship between the Army Reserve and the private sector, Stultz said. He said it establishes a process whereby employers and the Army Reserve can secure and share the talents of trained professionals. Partners such as Crowley Auto Group will benefit from the employment of men and women with Army values, experience and proven leadership skills, he said.
Other Army Reserve industry partners include Inova Health System, the American Trucking Associations and Con-way Freight.
