Mission

U.S. Army South (ARSOUTH) conducts security cooperation and responds to contingencies as part of a whole-of-government approach in conjunction with partner nation armies in the U.S. Southern Command Area of Responsibility as the Theater Army in order to strengthen regional security and counter transnational threats in defense of the homeland.

Area of Responsibility U.S. Army South is the Army Service Component Command of U.S. Southern Command. SOUTHCOM's area of responsibility encompasses 31 countries and 15 areas of special sovereignty in Central and South America, and the Caribbean and covers about 15.6 million square miles.
