Soldiers' Chorus vocalist pays tribute through song
Sgt. 1st Class Rose Ryon, a vocalist with the Soldiers' Chorus of The United States Army Field Band, performed at a special Patriot Day ceremony at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York City Sep 12. Ryon, on hand to sing the National Anthem and "Amazing Grace," was proud to be a part of the commemoration. Roughly 400 attendees came out to honor Christian P. Engeldrum, a fallen Soldier from the 69th Infantry Battalion in Iraq. Engeldrum was also a New York City fireman who responded to the World Trade Center following the 9-11 terrorist attacks. The ceremony included the unveiling of a new portrait of Engeldrum and the premier of the documentary "The Lt. Dan Band, for the Common Good," featuring Gary Sinise, who also attended the event. Sinise, noted actor from such films as "Forrest Gump" and "Apollo 13", is an avid supporter of the U.S. military, and he continues to raise awareness and funds for veterans, military family support groups and the New York City Fire department to help them construct a 9-11 Memorial to honor fallen fire fighters.
