Community Programs and Services

Adopt-a-10th Mountain Platoon

Adopt-a-10th Mountain Platoon is designed to bring Soldiers and the local community together. Individuals and businesses volunteer to sponsor units deployed overseas from Fort Drum. Participants in the program send packages with letters, photos, magazines, personal care items, treats, and other things that may be difficult for them to find while deployed. The goal is to remind the Soldiers that the community back home is thinking of units and supporting their mission. A number of similar programs exist at installations across America.

The Association of the United States

Northern New York-Fort Drum Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) efforts contribute to an improved quality of life for Fort Drum Soldiers and their Families. Highlighted activities include the annual Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation(DFMWR)/AUSA River Day at Alexandria Bay on the St. Lawrence River ; the Warrior Walk, a Wounded and Fallen Soldier Fund to support the Soldiers and Families of deceased or wounded Soldiers, Adopt - a- 10th Mountain Platoon, and sponsors welcome home and retirement ceremonies.
Fort Drum Regional Liaison Organization

The Fort Drum Regional Liaison Organization (FDRLO) originated in 1990 as a community-based membership organization with the mission of preserving positive inter-relationships and communication between the civilian and military communities and leaders in the tri-county region of Northern New York State. Currently the FDRLO and Fort Drum are working together to prepare for the growth coming in the next few years - preparing to not only continue the community support for our Soldiers, but to increase the capability and the quality of that support.
