ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, ILL. -- On Rock Island Arsenal, construction is replacing and improving sidewalks, gutters and street curbs in the vicinity of North Avenue, buildings 350, 360, 390 and 391.

Joe Gumpert, Directorate of Public Works, one of the approval authorities for Arsenal Island's work projects, approved the work order for workers to place a concrete base and walkway around Bldg. 391, also known as the flagpole, in Constitution Square to assist the flag detail in carrying out its duties.

The Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning in Bldg. 360 were improved, as well as sidewalks and lighting.

The street curbs and gutters for buildings 350 and 390 were improved near Rodman Avenue and Pershing Street.

New construction on North Avenue began on Nov. 23. Parking lot 3K, near North Avenue and Gillespie Street, is being modified by adding a new entrance and adjusting parking spots.

"Use caution when travelling near the construction sites, they are marked," said Gumpert.

According to Bob Reeves, Army Sustainment Command, the projects were funded by Fiscal Year 2012 end-of-year funds. These funds were also used to support our Soldiers by providing necessary improvements to the Army Health Clinic.
